French Antique Buffet #61017

A beautiful Louis XV 18th century cherry wood buffet from the Mayenne region of France. French country furniture like this just oozes character with its stunning patina and rich colour. Opening the doors releases a gorgeous open-fire smokey scent, giving a real sense of history to the piece. The patination is especially prominent around the handles, it is of good proportion and great form. There are also lovely central columns balanced within the rococo design, which assists with the dating of the piece to the Directoire period (c1790). It is one of the best examples of the Buffet-deux-corps we’ve ever found – it is in very good condition and retains all the original working locks and keys.
